A Note from Our President & Founder

I founded Rivera Consulting in 2016 to work at the center of people, planning, and politics. Since the founding, my team has grown from a sole proprietorship to a team of five full-time employees and three fellows. Part of that growth has been working with my team to drill down on our shared vision for change. At our shop, one thing has become more clear than ever: with our civic infrastructure in flames across the country, now is the moment for us to invest in a deeper democracy—a public commons and society co-created and co-designed by the leadership of women, Black people, indigenous people, and all people of color.

In today’s world and the one that is emerging, we are a movement-building firm committed to planting the seeds for deep democracy, collective care and just sustainability. We believe that people’s lived experiences hold the knowledge, values, and skills key to problem solving our most complex social problems. We adopt an emergent strategy and design thinking approach with our clients to co-sense, co-design, co-create, and operationalize solutions that advance their mission.

At Rivera Consulting, Inc. we know that the expertise and lived experience of individuals who have been directly impacted by inequity is key to solving these problems. We honor their truths, and lead in that way. As we continue to forge a new collective vision and social contract, we leverage policy, research, the ballot box, and people to transform communities. We are a team of strategic disruptors in the fields of electoral politics, legislation and advocacy, urban planning and movement building that is calling for a new playbook for a national just transition.

As we emerge into this next iteration of collaboration and co-creation, we want to say thank you. We would not be where we are today without you. To learn more about our services, clients, and teams please visit our re-launched website at riveraconsult.com. To keep in touch, we will send quarterly newsletters on what we have been working on and where we have been in the mix.

In solidarity,

Wilnelia Rivera

P.S. We’ve put together a short video with some influential characters that have dotted the narrative of our work. We can only step forward in anticipation of the incredible road that lays ahead, and in appreciation of those who have joined us.
