URGE Strategic Plan

Beginning in November of 2018, Rivera Consulting Inc. engaged in an asset-driven strategic change management process with staff, board, members, and allies of United for Reproductive and Gender Equality (URGE). The process adopted an asset-based community development approach, a well-known urban planning method for engaging diverse audiences around the positive elements of community-building focused on its essential principles and practices. It is used in various social science research modes (e.g., community health needs assessment, strategic planning, and/or appreciative inquiry). Its core principles are people-centered, resident-driven, asset-based, locally focused, and grassroots/bottom up orientation. These principles were then used to identify different types of assets that can be activated for a new three to five-year strategic plan. See the full plan here.
